Apple’s ‘Surprise and shine’ hashmoji is already live on X
As is tradition, users who post on X with the #AppleEvent hashtag over the next few days will get a custom Apple logo hashmoji attached to their posts. See it in detail below.
For years now, every time Apple schedules a new event, the company has rolled out a custom X hashmoji to go along with it.
Following the event invites sent out earlier today, featuring an Apple-shaped halo around the sun and the tagline “Surprise and shine,” the company’s new hashmoji is now live on X.

This means that users who post on the platform with #AppleEvent will see a custom Apple logo appear alongside the hashtag, adapted from the invite artwork.
Apple’s “Surprise and shine” event is scheduled for September 9, at 10 a.m. PT, and the company is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside its first foldable iPhone. Rumors also point to new Apple Watch and AirPods models.
Apple’s hashmoji went live just hours after the company’s SVP of Marketing, Greg Jozwiak, teased it in a post on X. Tim Cook later reposted Jozwiak’s message with comments of his own.

Interestingly, some interpreted Cook’s mention of a countdown as an Easter egg referencing a countdown of his own: he is now just days away from stepping down as Apple CEO on September 1, and becoming the company’s executive chairman.
