Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra launch with 185Hz panels, 8 Elite Gen 5 chips, and huge batteries
Xiaomi sub-brand Poco is officially expanding its flagship smartphone line with the launch of the Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra.
Under the hood, the top-tier Poco F9 Ultra packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The standard Poco F9 Pro relies on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB) with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both handsets incorporate a dedicated 12nm VisionBoost D8 graphics chip to handle AI frame insertion and super-resolution processing.
On the front, both devices feature HyperRGB AMOLED panels with a 185Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 4,500 nits. The Poco F9 Pro features a 6.59-inch display with a 2510 x 1156 resolution, while the Poco F9 Ultra expands to a 6.9-inch display with a 2608 x 1200 resolution. Both screens feature 480Hz 10-point touch sampling, 4800Hz instant touch sampling, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and integrated ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.
Camera hardware sees a major overhaul on both models, starting with a shared 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 4K video recording. The secondary camera configurations branch off from there.
The Poco F9 Pro pairs the main camera with a 50MP floating telephoto lens capable of 2.5x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The Poco F9 Ultra steps up to a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom alongside a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. Both phones include a 32MP front-facing selfie camera.
Audio performance has been tuned in partnership with Bose. The F9 Pro comes equipped with symmetrical dual stereo speakers, whereas the Poco F9 Ultra introduces a 2.1-channel audio configuration that combines dual stereo speakers with an independent 1620 rear subwoofer.
Power endurance is handled by a 6,330mAh battery on the F9 Pro, while the F9 Ultra houses a, frankly, massive 8,050mAh silicon-carbon battery with a 16% silicon content ratio. Both models share the same charging speeds: 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, 27W wired reverse charging, and 22.5W wireless reverse charging.
Additional standard hardware specifications include IP68 dust and water resistance, NFC support, and Xiaomi HyperOS 3 running out of the box. Color choices for the F9 Pro include Black, White, and Aurora Green, which features a glow-in-the-dark rear cover. The F9 Ultra is available in Black and Dark Cherry with a glass fiber finish and interactive lighting accents on the rear housing.
Pricing for the Poco F9 Pro starts at $699 for the 12GB/256GB base model (early-bird $649) and reaches $769 for the 12GB/512GB tier (early-bird $699). The Poco F9 Ultra starts at $799 for the 12GB/256GB option (early bird $729), $949 for the 16GB/512GB option (early bird $799), and tops out at $1,199 for the 16GB/1TB option (early bird $1,059). Global availability and localized ordering options are available directly on the official Poco Global page and Xiaomi launch portal.
