Drumcree parade decision expected to be announced
Since 1998, the Parades Commission has imposed restrictions on the Orange Order's route back from a service at Drumcree Church outside Portadown
A decision on whether or not a controversial Drumcree parade by the Orange Order in Portadown is to be re-routed may be announced later on Friday.
The Parades Commission has been deliberating since Wednesday on whether the parade will be allowed along the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road.
Unionist politicians have urged the five-person commission to permit Sunday's march in spite of opposition from a group of local residents.
The commission has indicated it hopes to announce its decision on Friday, but it could come on Saturday.
The parade by Portadown District Orange Order is due to start at 13:00 BST at Drumcree church on Sunday and finish at Carleton Street in the town centre by 14:30.
A total of 60 people would march along the road in silence, without any bands.
The last time the commission considered the parade route, it re-routed the march, but that decision in June was later quashed in court as proper procedures had not been followed.
The commission's decision, known as a determination, was explained in a nine-page document.
A lengthy explanation is expected to accompany the latest determination.
