Is Gears Of War: E-Day On Steam?
Anyone looking to play Gears of War: E-Day has several options for which platform they choose to get the game on, and yes, Steam is one of them. While The Coalition's new entry in the Gears universe is exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S, PC owners can add Gears of War: E-Day to their Steam library. How does this differ from buying the game from the Xbox PC storefront or on console? Let's break it down.
Unsurprisingly, the Standard and Premium Editions of the game will cost you the same through Steam as it would through the official Xbox storefronts on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and it'll also be a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. That works out to:

Owners of the Premium Edition can start playing early on October 1, while the Standard Edition unlocks on October 6. Microsoft says that Gears of War: E-Day is "fully optimized" for various PC gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and Xbox Ally X devices, but we haven't yet seen it in action. The Steam Deck uses three levels to indicate compatibility with games--Verified means it should run without a hitch out of the box, Playable means that it'll require some tweaking by the user, and Unsupported means that it won't function on the Steam Deck.
It's not yet known which category Gears of War: E-Day falls into, but Xbox Game Studios titles are usually playable on the Steam Deck handheld without needing much tinkering to perform optimally.
