Family of teenager killed in crash to sue acquitted driver
Kyle Marshall was one of two teenagers who died in the crash in March 2024
The family of a teenager killed in a car crash near Stirling two years ago are launching a civil case against the driver who was cleared of causing death by careless driving.
Kyle Marshall, 19, and Jayden McConnell, 17, died when a car driven by Charles Gray spun out of control and into the path of a lorry on the A91 near Bannockburn Interchange in March 2024.
Gray, who had passed his test a month earlier, was acquitted of causing the deaths of his two friends after a five-day trial at Stirling Sheriff Court last November.
According to the Scottish Sun,, external the Marshall family are now suing Gray for a six-figure sum, alleging negligence.
A spokesman for Digby Brown, the law firm representing the Marshall family, confirmed: "A civil action has now been raised in the Court of Session on behalf of the loved ones of Kyle to help them secure answers, support and recognition.
"It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time however we will continue to support the Marshall family during this time."

The trial heard that Gray, who was 17 at the time of the crash, had lost control of the Vauxhall Corsa on a wet Sunday afternoon, on a stretch of road known as "greasy corner" because it had a reputation for becoming slippery.
Soon after leaving a roundabout, the car spun onto the opposite side of the carriageway and was hit by a heavy tipper lorry coming in the other direction.
