Published: 10/05/2026, 02:15 PM

A new Google Maps update lets you change your car’s driving avatar into a McLaren F1. Available for a limited time, Google Maps has added a McLaren F1 driving avatar to its selection. You can change your car’s icon from the default blue arrow or other 3D cars to the Google-sponsored McLaren F1 racing car. The temporary avatar is available through late November and celebrates the US Grand Prix that takes place in Las Vegas from October 22-25. Celebrate the United States Grand Prix with the official team avatar, available until November 23, 2026. The avatar is visible on both your smartphone as well as your car’s display via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. You can adjust your driving avatar via Google Maps > Settings > Your vehicles > Driving avatar. This is a server-side update that’s still rolling out.
