Another Critical Role Actor Joins The Final Fantasy VII Revelation Cast As Shiva (But Not The Shiva You Think)
There’ve been some new revelations regarding the Final Fantasy VII remake project voice cast. Marisha Ray, known for her numerous performances on Critical Role, has joined the team voicing Shiva…well, one version of Shiva anyway. Announced during New York Comic Con, Ray will be playing Polydroid Shiva, who appears to be some kind of digitized, NPC-ified version of the summonable Shiva. You remember those Lego-looking versions of Cloud, Barret, and Tifa you get when playing the Fort Condor minigame in Rebirth? She looks like a Shiva version of that.
During the Final Fantasy VII Revelation panel at NYCC, Square Enix shared a clip featuring Shiva talking extensively with Vincent Valentine, who is voiced by Matt Mercer, who happens to be Ray’s real-life husband. Check it out.
It seems like the good folks at Gold Saucer have commissioned this alternate version of Shiva to run the amusement park’s snowboarding mini-game, which has suffered some kind of mishap. Somehow it falls to Vincent make everything right, leading to some juicy exchanges between the two. It’s neat that the narrative team contrived a way to get the real-life husband-and-wife team to interact like this. Judging from the clip, it looks like they’re having a good time.
