PSA: Wall-mounted HomeView may not work if you buy the wrong power adapter
Earlier today, Apple confirmed that the wall-mounted HomeView does not come with a power adapter in the box.
Now, the company has published a support document detailing the device’s power requirements, including what to look for when purchasing a compatible adapter. Here are the details.
If you’re buying the wall-mounted version of the new Apple HomeView, Apple has published a new support article with some important information.
As the company announced earlier today, the HomeView (Wall Mounted) model does not include a mount, nor does it come with a power adapter in the box.
This means that users will need to buy those separately. As my colleague Ryan explained earlier today, “Apple is selling two different mount options that start at $59, and it says a third is coming in early 2027.”
As for the power adapter, Apple explains in a new support article that the wall-mounted HomeView requires a USB-C power adapter rated for at least 20W, with support for 9V at 2.22A or higher. If those requirements aren’t met, the device may display a “Not Enough Power” warning.
Alternatively, depending on the third-party mount, the wall-mounted HomeView can be connected directly to a home’s electrical wiring without a separate USB-C power adapter.
HomeView ships with a power cable and adapter. HomeView (Wall Mounted) requires a compatible third-party mount and power solution for operation, sold separately. Depending on the mount, you can use a separate power cable and adapter or connect to line power (hardwired).
HomeView: Use a USB-C cable and a USB-C power adapter that’s at least 30W and supports 15V at 2A or higher.
HomeView (Wall Mounted): Use a USB-C cable and a USB-C power adapter (both sold separately) that’s at least 20W and supports 9V at 2.22A or higher.
