Yes, We All Know Nun With A Gun, But Have You Heard About Our Other Fortune’s Weave Lord And Savior, The Guzzler?
Have you heard the good news about Guzran?! Everybody playing Fortune’s Weave has their fave companion. But there seems to be one guy that everyone goes apeshit for: the man, the myth, the fucking legend, Guzran. He’s got all kinds of nicknames, from the Guzlord to the Guzzler, and he’s popular enough to get memed as though he were the Dagosian equivalent of Chuck Norris if you’re old enough to remember that particular piece of internet meme culture.
Guzran has the great fortune of being a really good character who’s also a really chill dude. Most Fire Emblem companions outside of the major Lords either have shitty-to-average battle capabilities or a boring, ho-hum personality. Guzran has neither of those problems. His unique ability, Hot-Headed, grants him +10 to his chance to either hit, crit, or dodge which is kinda nuts and really reinforces the fact that he’s known in-game as the “Unkillable Guzran.” But underneath all that bravado is a big, brown, beautiful teddy bear of a man, joining Cai as one of his default companions because the boy needed his help and they brought him beer.
Scrolling through the Fire Emblem subreddits, filled with posts singing his praise, I bought into the hype. I’ve even had Fortune’s Weave-playing friends message me privately extolling his battle virtues. I’ve been trudging along enjoying the recruits I have. Noctula has been a wonderful addition because I needed someone to punch people to death and she’s great at that. Sofia, too, because I love a queen who loves to eat. But given all the hype I’d heard about Guzran, well, obviously he had to be next addition to the squad.
But when I tried to recruit him…pain, suffering. I’m a renown and support level short. Turns out, in choosing Theodora over Cai or Leda, I’d picked the Lord with the highest requirements to recruit him. Good news is, I’ve got a metric fuck-ton of booze gifts sitting in my inventory and I know just where to spend them.
