iOS 27.3 introduces new iPhone Duo feature for one-handed use
iOS 27.3 beta 1 launched today with a variety of new features, including a big upgrade for one-handed iPhone Duo use thanks to Reachability.
When iPhone Duo reviews first arrived last month, some complained that the extra-wide design of the outer display made it difficult to use one-handed.
At the time, Apple said that it would introduce Reachability via a future software update to help.
Today with iOS 27.3 beta 1, Reachability has officially arrived for iPhone Duo users.
Unlike Reachability on other iPhones, which shifts the screen down vertically, the iPhone Duo version works horizontally.
Once the feature is enabled (Settings ⇾ Accessibility ⇾ Reachability), a short swipe to the side of the screen will shift everything to the left or right, making it easier to reach.
If you’re struggling at all with one-handed iPhone Duo use, iOS 27.3 might make a big difference.
Currently iOS 27.3 is only available in developer beta, but a public beta is expected to launch in the coming days. However, if you’re concerned about bugs or performance issues, we recommend waiting for the launch version. Apple has said that iOS 27.3 will ship to all users next month, with mid-December the most likely window.
Have you tried Reachability on iPhone Duo yet? How is it working for you? Let us know in the comments.
