Google starts rolling out Tap to Share for Pixel 6 and newer
While Tap to Share was announced with the Pixel 11 series, it’s also beginning to roll out for the Pixel 6 and newer today in a redux of Android Beam.
From your homescreen, just “bring your compatible Android device and another Android device close together for an instant, two-way exchange” to quickly share contact info.
To send photos, videos, and other media types, first open your phone’s system Share sheet and then tap the devices together. This capability is an extension of Quick Share, and comes as the Pixel 11 moves its NFC antenna to the top of the phone.
Tap to Share is rolling out starting today for Pixel 6 and newer devices. It’s next coming to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8. Google plans to “expand to more Android devices by the end of the year.”
