Apple could discontinue 10+ popular products next week
Apple is holding its big September launch event next week, and as new products arrive, the company is expected to discontinue 10+ popular current devices.
When Apple launches new products, it’s common practice for the company to discontinue older devices in those same categories. Based on everything new rumored for the September 9 event, we could see 10+ products discontinued next week.
Out of this list, some products are more likely to be discontinued than others.
For example, even though iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have been wildly successful, Apple always discontinues its previous Pro models to make room for new ones.
However, some of the wildcards include iPhone 16 and 16 Plus and certain Home products.
Normally we would expect Apple to launch a new base model iPhone 18, lower the price of the iPhone 17, and discontinue the iPhone 16.
But widespread reporting indicates that both iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 are being pushed into early 2027. As a result, it’s unclear whether Apple will continue selling iPhone 16 at least until then.
Additionally, due to the unprecedented price hikes that have impacted most Apple products, the company could potentially keep older devices around longer than usual at lower prices, while introducing the new versions at higher prices.
In any case, we’re expecting a big September event and that likely means many of the products above will get replacements that push them out of the lineup.
