In the version of this article initially published, in Extended Data Fig. 9e, the H3K4me3 immunoblot was inadvertently duplicated from the H3K27me3 immunoblot during figure assembly. The correct H3K4me3 blot, which derives from the same experiment, is shown in the Supplementary Information below. New exports of all panels from the original source films are provided in the corrected figure; the H3K27me1 panel might appear slightly different from the original owing to a scanning artifact in the original panel (scanner-film contact surface) introduced during digitization of the source films. The original source films are available in a Figshare repository (https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.33027986). This correction does not affect the results, interpretation or conclusions of the article. Due to the age of the article, the figure cannot be updated directly; this notice serves to correct the article.
