Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12 have surprise upgrade that wasn’t announced
Apple launched two new Watch models yesterday: Apple Watch Series 12 (pre-order) and Apple Watch Ultra 4 (pre-order). And new findings reveal that they each have a surprise upgrade not mentioned by Apple: double the RAM of their predecessors.
One of the most exciting changes in Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Apple Watch Series 12 is the new S11 chip that powers them.
S11 brings the first meaningful performance upgrade on Apple Watch in years. And it arrives just in time for a suite of AI features in watchOS 27.
But there’s a key detail to the performance story for these new models that Apple didn’t reveal.
Based on Xcode 27 (via MacRumors), both Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12 include 4GB of RAM.
Apple doesn’t typically publish memory specs for the Apple Watch. But Xcode reveals the memory specs, which can be helpful for developers to know.
For context, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11 have only 2GB of RAM.
That means this year’s models double the memory, a big change that hasn’t formally been announced or detailed by Apple elsewhere.
