StarCraft, ‘Camelot,’ And More: Everything We Expect And Hope To See At BlizzCon 2026

This Saturday, September 12, marks the return of BlizzCon, Blizzard’s once-annual fan convention for its many games, after a multi-year hiatus, and it feels like it’s going to be a big one. The convention has been in and out of action in recent years: there wasn’t one in 2020 due to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the same reason, 2021’s was virtual. No convention again in 2022, and while it returned in 2023, Blizzard skipped it again in both 2024 and 2025.
So 2026 feels like an attempt to return to form, and there are some big announcements brewing. We’re especially expecting big things from World of Warcraft as it enters a critical point in the long-running MMORPG’s story arc, but StarCraft also appears to be sneaking back into Blizzard’s regular line-up in a big way.
Ahead of opening ceremonies, where all will be revealed, here’s a quick rundown of everything we’re expecting to see at the show this weekend:
Look, we’ll almost certainly be getting updates for the current expansion of World of Warcraft, Midnight. BlizzCon is a great place to show us the next major patch that will cap the expansion off and finish this chapter of the story while setting up the next one. This usually includes a new zone reveal, at least one new dungeon and delve, a new raid, among other new features. It also seems possible we’ll get info on a new limited-time game mode, such as the rumored Shadowlands Remix.
But what we’re all really curious about is the next expansion, and it’s high time Blizzard revealed it. The Last Titan is the third and final chapter of “The Worldsoul Saga,” and is expected to be a pretty dramatic conclusion to the current arc we’re in of chasing void harbinger Xal’atath all over the place while she tries to eat the planet’s soul. Folks are excited about The Last Titan: we’re expecting a return to a revamped version of the beloved region of Northrend from Wrath of the Lich King, for one. But we’re also hoping for some serious story climaxes related to the planet itself, and ideally for someone to address the giant sword in the room after all these years. I wouldn’t expect a ton of detail about The Last Titan, and certainly not a release date, but a cinematic unveiling and an overview of the new look of Northrend are definitely possibilities.
There have been loads of rumors and speculation about “Camelot,” a mysterious word that keeps cropping up in various Blizzard-related places. No one’s 100% certain what it is, though the current community guess is that it’s a revamped World of Warcraft: Classic. Essentially, what we all hope for is a reimagined version of the original World of Warcraft that proceeds along a different path than the current version of the game, and the rumors are currently suggesting that it may be even more ambitious than we originally suspected.
While we don’t have a bead on what exact Camelot will be, all signs are currently pointing to its reveal at BlizzCon. Just a week ago, the Blizzard apparel store added a “Camelot” color scheme to its backend, suggesting it’s getting ready to sell a bunch of themed clothing. What better time than BlizzCon?
This is a little fuzzy, but there are rumors of other Warcraft-related things in the works. There’s been mention of Warcraft Chronicles, seemingly a new, rumored RTS game, which might turn out to be real at BlizzCon. Blizzard seems interested in revisiting its classics at this event (more on that in a moment), so it’s also possible something here is related to Warcraft 1, 2, or even 3. And apart from that, we know that Blizzard has wanted to do more transmedia stuff with Warcraft lately, so I wouldn’t be totally shocked if a film or TV reveal was in the cards.
