Apple invites developers to submit iPhone Duo-ready apps to the App Store
With the iPhone Duo launch fast approaching, Apple is now accepting submissions of iPhone Duo-optimized apps and games built with Xcode 27.1. Here are the details.
Over the past few weeks, Apple has released Xcode 27.1 betas with support for building and testing apps and games for the iPhone Duo. Today, the company released Xcode 27.1 Release Candidate 1, which developers can download here.
Earlier tonight, in a post published on its Developer News Hub, Apple announced that developers can now submit iPhone Duo optimized apps and games in App Store Connect:
When you build or recompile using Xcode 27.1, your App Store product page will display a badge to let people know your app is optimized for iPhone Duo.
Importantly, the company added that any apps or games submitted to App Store Connect will need to include screenshots for iPhone Duo starting April 2027.
In the same news post, Apple stressed that recompiling existing apps with Xcode 27.1 adds development support for iPhone Duo, and that developers can use Device Hub to visualize how their apps behave on the new device across all poses and orientations.
Apple also listed several resources to help developers prepare their apps and App Store product pages for the iPhone Duo, including:
