Following more images of the previously leaked Google Fitbit Edge surfacing a few days ago, new details about the upcoming fitness tracker have been revealed, including potential features and pricing. The Fitbit Edge will reportedly sell for €179 in Europe, and £159 in the UK, according to leaked details shared by Dealabs. Given the €99/£85 pricing of the $99 screen-free Fitbit Air in those regions, 9to5Google estimates the new Fitbit Edge will cost around $180 in the US.
The Fitbit Edge will feature a 1.34-inch always-on OLED touchscreen and will run Fitbit OS with access to Google Play. It will connect to Android and iOS devices over Bluetooth and in addition to GPS it will include a variety of sensors including an accelerometer, a barometer, an altimeter, and a gyroscope plus multiple optical sensors for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and electrical sensors for capturing ECGs.
The Edge’s fitness monitoring capabilities will include tracking steps, distance, calories, skin temperature, sleep, cardiac load, and menstrual cycles. It will also track physical activities like running, swimming, golf, and over 40 different exercises with real-time coaching and personalized fitness programs provided by Google Gemini. The fitness tracker will also watch for the telltale signs of serious medical conditions like atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms with alerts when they’re detected.
