Word is coming in from the extremely reliable leaker billbil-kun at Dealabs that Forza Horizon 6 will not be arriving on PS5 until 2027. January 26, 2027 to be precise. This follows a peculiar back-and-forth last month between The Verge‘s Tom Warren and Forza developer Playground Games over whether the PlayStation port of the game had been delayed, during which Playground categorically stated, “Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year.”
This all kicked off August 27 when Warren posted to his X account, “I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026,” and when questioned about his sourcing replied, “I don’t just make stuff up.”

As Eurogamer pointed out, on September 7 these claims (also backed up by IGN) were refuted by Playground Games at the end of a very lengthy update post on the game’s official site, in which the developer insisted the game was still set for a PlayStation port this year and encouraged people to wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store.
Yesterday, October 6, things got a little bit weirder when Playground posted an oblique statement to its X account in which the studio appeared to be apologizing for something, without saying exactly what. “We’re reading all your comments about Forza Horizon 6,” it began, “and we realise that we haven’t been talking with you as much as we could be.” The statement goes on to say that it will “continue” to add more content to the May 2026 game, adding, “we want you to know we hear your feedback about our post-launch updates and we’re looking into future changes to both in-game content and the ways we communicate with you.”

Now Dealabs is saying it followed up Tom Warren’s initial claim with its own investigation, and is stating with overwhelming confidence that the game will finally appear on the PS5 on January 26, 2027, confirming the delay. Dealabs adds that the game will have a physical release (a growing rarity for PlayStation), and that in Europe at least, it’ll be the same price as the Xbox version.
Forza Horizon 5 was a colossal hit when released on PlayStation, after the series had previously been an Xbox and PC exclusive. The sequel is expected to do just as well, making the delay all the more surprising. We’ve reached out to Microsoft and Playground Games to see if they’re able to clear this up.
