Police officer tells rape trial he did not commit sex crimes
John Williamson is on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh
A police officer accused of rape in Shetland has told a court he did not commit the crimes he is accused of.
Carmichael John Williamson - known as John Williamson - is on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He is accused of assaulting and raping a teenage girl in 2014 and 2015, and of having sexual activity with the girl when she was under age. It is also alleged he raped a woman in 2022 while she was intoxicated and unable to consent.
Giving evidence, Williamson, 32, told the second day of the trial it was untrue that he had penetrative sex with the girl when she was an under-age teenager.

After the Crown case closed, Williamson took the stand.
He said it was not true that he took part in sexual activity with an adult woman outside a community hall during a function in 2022.
Defence counsel David Nicolson KC asked Williamson if there was any sexual contact between him and the female at the venue.
