Man found dead with murdered wife had been accused of attacking her
Jim Mair was found dead in Houston on Monday alongside his wife
The husband of a woman murdered in Renfrewshire appeared in court earlier this month charged with assaulting her, the BBC understands.
Jim Mair, 43, was found dead near Corsliehill Road in Houston on Monday alongside the body of 35-year-old Stacy Mair.
Police said her death was being investigated as murder, while Jim Mair's death was being treated as unexplained.
The Crown Office said Mair appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on 6 July charged with assault. His death means any court proceedings have now also ended.
Mair was bailed after the case was continued for further examination.
The Scottish Sun first reported, external that bail was granted on condition that he did not approach his wife.
Stacy Mair's death is being treated as murder by Police Scotland
The couple were married in 2019 and had a tree removal company called TRS Tree Management.
Stacy Mair, who was from Falkland in Fife, was a director of the firm before she resigned from the role in January.
