British rapper Yung Filly to face retrial on rape charges in Australia
British rapper Yung Filly will face a retrial on three rape charges in Australia, after a jury cleared him of several sexual assault offences but could not reach a decision on others.
The YouTuber, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was charged with repeatedly raping and assaulting a fan after performing at a nightclub in Perth in 2024.
He denied all 10 charges, and last month a jury found him not guilty on three counts of rape.
He was also acquitted of one assault charge and another of strangulation, but was found guilty of two counts of assault, for which he'll be sentenced after his retrial.
Barrientos had been on tour in Australia when he was accused of sexually assaulting the woman, then 20 years old, in his hotel room after he performed in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth.
The West Australian court heard that the 31-year-old social media star had consensual sex with the fan in his hotel room, before she alleged he turned violent and ignored her pleas to stop.
Barrientos will next appear in court 27 August for an application to vary his bail. A retrial date has not been set.
He will not be sentenced for the two guilty charges until after the re-trial.
The prosecution has said the complainant is willing to give evidence again.
During the trial, Barrientos told the court that he had "fancied" the woman when they met at the concert venue.
