ChatGPT and Codex now support multiple Gmail and Google Calendar accounts
OpenAI confirmed today that ChatGPT and Codex users can now add multiple Gmail and Google Cal accounts. Here are the details.
Depending on how your personal and work lives are organized, you likely have more than one Gmail or Google Calendar account.
For many users who rely on ChatGPT’s plugins for those platforms, there has been one limitation until now. Each plugin could only be connected to a single Google account, making it harder to use ChatGPT Codex across separate personal and work inboxes or calendars.
Today, as confirmed by OpenAI DX engineer Gabriel Chua, the company rolled out multi-account support for Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts.
1. In the left side bar, select “Plugins” and search for Gmail/Google Calendar/Google Contacts2. If you’ve already connected on account, click on the gear icon to add your second (or third!) account pic.twitter.com/5G6Z7YPXGK
To add another account, users can open the Plugins section in the sidebar, find Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Contacts, and click the gear icon for a plugin they have already connected. From there, they can add a second or third account and complete the usual Google authorization process.
In practice, the change means users can have one ChatGPT conversation working with information or taking actions through a personal Gmail account, while another relies on a work account, contacts, and calendar to handle professional tasks.
ChatGPT can also pull relevant information from multiple connected accounts when needed, giving it a broader picture of the user’s communications, relationships, and schedule, enabling it to provide more useful and contextual responses.
Importantly, OpenAI’s plugins documentation notes that connected accounts are subject to their respective app permissions and workspace controls, meaning availability can vary depending on the user’s plan, organization, and administrator settings.
