Everything We Saw At BlizzCon 2026’s Jam-Packed Opening Ceremony
BlizzCon 2026 is the first time the World of WarCraft maker’s big fan event is back in person since 2023, and the company did not skimp on the news and announcements. From a new StarCraft to Diablo 5, here’s everything we caught a glimpse of during the opening ceremony that kicked off the convention in Anaheim, California.
Blizzard revealed that Xal’atath, the Harbinger of the Void, is coming to the company’s existing MOBA, and she won’t be the only one joining fans in the Nexus. While major new developments were scaled back in 2022, the multiplayer has continued to be supported with new seasonal patches.

The first trailer of BlizzCon 2026 was a cinematic trailer showing off Terran marines going into battle and getting ripped to shreds. The project was introduced by Dan Hay, former head of Far Cry at Ubisoft, who is leading long-rumored spin-off. It’s not slated to arrive until 2030.
Doctrine is a stealth support character with drones that heal comrades who’s arriving in season 5. He’s basically a vampire. The hero trial, however, starts today. Blizzard showed off the hero with a new cinematic short.
The long-rumored port is dropping on Nintendo’s handheld hybrid console on September 15 alongside the new season.
