Jared Leto Accused Of Sexual Misconduct By Multiple Women In New Documentary
A new BBC documentary called “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” includes claims from multiple women that the actor engaged in allegedly criminal sexual misconduct, including committing sexual assault and having sex with someone who was underage at the time. Leto reportedly did not respond to the BBC’s requests for comment.
The BBC documentary includes accounts by four women who accuse Leto of criminal behavior, as well as accounts by others detailing allegedly inappropriate remarks and behavior the actor engaged in with young women and teens. The accounts of alleged encounters with Leto spanned from 2002 to 2016.
One woman said Leto, who is also a musician, instructed a security guard to take her backstage at a concert once after making a lewd comment about her chest during an autograph signing. Her mother reportedly confronted Leto, at which point he allegedly repeated the remark. The woman was only 14 years old at the time.
The documentary includes more serious allegations from other woman, many of whom said they were underage at the times of the incidents. One of the women accused Leto of sexually assaulting her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another said she had sex with Leto at his house when she was 17, which would have been statutory rape under California law. A third accused Leto of grooming her with sexually explicit phone calls when she was only 16, and of later sending her an NDA which she declined to sign.
The BBC documentary comes a year after a previous report by Air Mail, which included the accounts of nine women who accused Leto of inappropriate behavior, including behavior that was allegedly “predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.” At the time, a representative for Leto “expressly denied” the various women’s accusations and told the outlet they were “demonstrably false.”
Leto recently starred in the summer blockbuster Masters of the Universe as the He-Man villain Skeletor. The movie struggled at the box office but recently became the number most-streamed movie on Amazon Prime. Prior to that, he led last year’s long-troubled Tron sequel called Tron: Ares. In 2022, he starred in the superhero flop Morbius, which went viral for being so infamously bad that Sony got tricked into releasing it in theaters twice.
