Three arrested after woman dies in multi-vehicle crash on A8
The collision, near Edinburgh Airport, happened between the Newbridge and Gogar roundabouts around 09:20 on Monday
Three people have been arrested after a multi-vehicle crash on the A8 near Edinburgh Airport on Monday in which a woman died.
Police said two women, aged 23 and 19, and a 32-year-old man were arrested in connection with the crash, which happened at around 09:25 near Newbridge.
Officers previously said they were trying to trace the occupants of a grey Mercedes A250 who had left the scene of the collision on foot.
A 58-year-old woman, who was driving a Hyundai i30 was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were taken to hospital but later released.
Four vehicles in total were involved in the crash including a grey Skoda Karoq and a Renault Captur which could be seen flipped onto its roof.
The road was closed for a number of hours to allow an investigation to take place but reopened at 19:05.
Sgt Mike Thomson said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who died.
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
Residents living close to the scene of the crash described the chaotic scenes in the aftermath of the incident.
