An Animated Diablo Show Is Coming To Netflix
It’s the opening night of BlizzCon 2026, and that can only mean one thing: announcements. Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment, just took to the stage to reveal that an animated Diablo series is currently in development at Netflix.
“We’ve been working very hard to find the best creative partnerships to tell even more stories,” stated Faries. “So while exciting things are underway across all of our biggest universes, today we are happy to announce one project in particular.”
“We are thrilled to share that we are in development on a new animated series for Diablo with Netflix. And as a big Diablo player myself, and as someone who loves the indulgent darkness of Sanctuary, I am very excited to see this project come to life.”
That’s all of the information we know so far. No word on a release date yet, nor do we know which animation is poised to bring Netflix’s Diablo series to life. Interestingly, however, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a collaboration between Xbox and Netflix.
Roughly a month after Xbox’s new head, Asha Sharma, stepped into her role, she reportedly received a vote of confidence from Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters. Sharma and Peters apparently “kicked around ideas” regarding a potential partnership, which included bundling Netflix and Xbox Game Pass together into one subscription.
Likewise, in July 2026, Sharma outlined plans to bolster Xbox’s transmedia presence “across film, television, consumer products, sponsorship, live experiences, and form new partnerships globally, including China.” This was no doubt informed by the overwhelming success of Amazon’s Fallout TV series.
It sounds an awful lot like the Netflix Diablo series in another step in this transmedia-focused direction. And, based on Sharma’s discussions with Netflix co-CEO, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the other “exciting things” Faries referred to in her Diablo announcement is another upcoming Netflix collaboration.
