Understanding how the warming climate is affecting trees such as conifers (pictured) is important for planning and conservation efforts. Increased temperatures are expected to lengthen the growing season outside the tropics, which could affect conifer growth and how much carbon these trees sequester. More evidence is needed to understand the factors that influence such processes.
