New Apple TV comedy has 100% Rotten Tomatoes, here’s the trailer
Apple TV currently has a packed lineup of new shows airing, and it’s about to add another. Small Prophets is a British comedy premiering next week that has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. Here’s the trailer.
Last month, Apple TV announced that it was doing something very rare: licensing an existing show from another network.
British comedy Small Prophets debuted in the UK earlier this year and became a hit for the BBC—it has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. Now Apple will bring the beloved show to viewers around the world.
Small Prophets premieres Wednesday, October 7 on Apple TV with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through November 4.
Today Apple debuted the trailer for Small Prophets, offering a taste of what’s coming. Here’s the series summary, followed by the trailer:
“Small Prophets” is a comic tale of the eccentric Michael Sleep (Quigley) who, since his darling Clea disappeared seven years ago, has lived a very ordinary life. He works in a DIY store, visits his dad Brian (Palin) and hopes for Clea to return. One day Brian shares an old recipe involving rainwater, horse manure and more than a little alchemy. With recipe in hand, Michael sets out (albeit with some skepticism) to create homunculi — magical spirits that can predict the future — in the hope they have the answer to his burning question: “will I ever see Clea again?”
Small Prophets was created, written, and directed by Mackenzie Crook, who also created Detectorists and acted in The Office (UK) and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Note: Small Prophets will be available globally on Apple TV, but UK viewers won’t gain access until 2027.
Currently airing Apple TV comedies include Brothers with Matthew McConaughey and Ted Lasso season 4. Owen Wilson’s hit series Stick returns soon too.
Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month, or you can get it discounted through the Apple One bundle.
