Apple releases iOS 26.6.1 for iPhone, here’s what’s new
Apple has just released iOS 26.6.1, a new software update for iPhone. Here’s what’s new.
Today Apple launched its latest update to iOS 26 ahead of the larger iOS 27 release coming next month.
iOS 26.6.1 is here, available now in Settings ⇾ General ⇾ Software Update.
This update provides security fixes for your iPhone.

Full details on the security fixes are available here. Most of them involve WebKit fixes, but there are also patches related to Audio, ImageIO, Kernel, and more.
Alongside iOS 26.6.1, Apple has also released iPadOS 26.6.1, macOS 26.6.2, and visionOS 26.6.1. It’s likely that these updates all feature the same security improvements.
Even though Apple only highlights security fixes, it’s possible iOS 26.6.1 adds a few bug fixes too. The company’s release notes aren’t usually comprehensive of all changes. And while iOS 27 is coming soon, Apple may continue refining iOS 26 for a while yet so it runs smoother for users.
If you’re looking for new iPhone features, you’ll have to wait a few more weeks. While iOS 26.6.1 doesn’t introduce new features, iOS 27 is packed with them and should launch in mid-September.
