Apple event 2026 live updates: The first foldable iPhone and more in real time
ZDNET editors are on the ground in Cupertino to cover the 'Surprise and shine' event live.
Apple’s annual hardware event takes place today, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST) at the company’s Cupertino headquarters. It’ll be CEO John Ternus’ first event in his new role, as Tim Cook has officially stepped down.
The industry has been rife with rumors for months about what today’s event will bring, including Apple’s first foldable iPhone, rumored to be called Ultra, and even a pair of smart glasses. What’s for certain, though, are the company’s standard releases: a new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, though the company may delay the base iPhone 18 for now.

There’s also the new Apple Watch 12, but whether you should upgrade depends on a few factors. ZDNET editor and wearables expert Nina Raemont weighs here. That will probably be joined by a new set of AirPods (maybe not with cameras, just yet) and, of course, the AI-powered Siri previewed at WWDC in June, which we’ve been testing all summer.
