Welcome to Disk Cleanup, our regular weekend feature delving into the PCs of PC gaming luminaries. Come back every weekend to read a new interview, digging into the important questions, like "How tidy is your desktop?" and "What game will you never uninstall?"
SungWon Cho got into PC gaming through the children's adventure games developed by Humongous Entertainment. "Games like Freddi Fish, Spy Fox, those really stuck with me," says the YouTuber and actor. "I remember playing those at a pretty young age and just being obsessed with the characters, the dialogue. I don't really play adventure games now, but I did then."
Cho gained a following on YouTube through his viral comedy skits such as "a villain who unintentionally always does helpful things" and when you have a really good turn in a card game, building a channel that today has almost four million subscribers. Alongside producing his own videos, Cho has become a prominent voice in gaming and animation, with roles that include Ratatoskr in God of War: Ragnarok, Abby Saja in the Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters, and most recently, the narrator in Paramount's Golden Axe animated series. He also appeared in 2023's riotous comedy-drama Blackberry, which charts the rise and fall of the Canadian mobile phone company.
Cho stepped away from the mic to give me a guided tour of his Steam library, which he reserves specifically for games he wants to lock into: "If I know I'm going to be obsessed with a game, I like to play it on PC," he says. Truer words were never spoken.
On PC, I'm not playing anything currently. I think the last game I got really into on PC was Dave the Diver.
I knew Dave the Diver would be dangerous for me. I heard people describing the gameplay loop. With PC games, I feel like I need to prepare myself. With Dave the Diver, I had a stretch of time where I was like "Okay, I can just become obsessed with this game." My wife and I will take turns, and sometimes if we're really into a game it's like "Hey, you're not going to see me. Like in the evenings, you're not going to see me. This is what I'm going to be doing." And we are both totally fine with that.
I think the gameplay loop is very satisfying. You get the fish. You cook them up. The art is great. I was very impressed with all of it. I think it was just a joy to play through.
Hades 2. That was another one that I had to be prepared for in advance. I 100%-ed it. I played it for like 120 hours. I was obsessed. I love the Hades games.
