Apple’s website has fun new easter egg: a fully interactive iPod
Today is the 25th anniversary of Apple unveiling the first iPod. And as discovered by Kian on X, the company’s website now has a fun new iPod easter egg.
The iPod is 25 years old and has long been discontinued, but it lives on in the hearts of many fans.
And now, a digital version lives on as an easter egg on Apple’s website too.
If you visit music.apple.com and add a path that doesn’t exist, the ‘Page Not Found’ screen now features a fully interactive original iPod model.
You can try it out by visiting music.apple.com/ipod or any other nonexistent version of the domain.
The iPod on the page lets you click through using its buttons to find pre-installed songs. The scroll wheel even works by clicking and dragging it around.
Apple first introduced the iPod on October 23, 2001, and the music you’ll find on this interactive model comes from artists that were popular at the time.
You can select songs to play 90-second previews right there in the web interface.
It’s a fun easter egg to play around with and celebrate the iPod’s legacy.
Do you think Apple should still make a dedicated music player like the iPod? Let us know in the comments.
