A 41-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of a woman in County Antrim.
Mary McAdorey was found in a house in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey on 12 October 2025.
George Paul Connor McWilliams, of no fixed abode, has been charged with several offences including non-fatal strangulation, domestic abuse and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A police officer told Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday that McWilliams was Ms McAdorey's partner when she died.
The officer said she could connect the defendant to the charges against him.
The court was told that McWilliams was initially arrested in October 2025 and later released on bail for further enquiries to be carried out.
The officer said the enquiries related to information on Ms McAdorey's mobile phone "cataloguing their relationship for a year…and showed patterns of domestic abuse".
The officer added that the phone, CCTV and family accounts could connect the defendant to the charges.
Requesting that bail be opposed, the officer said the accused was a "violent offender" with a lengthy list of previous convictions, a flight risk and added that there were issues regarding his probation officer.
