Elderly woman found dead named by police
Jill Gant, aged 88, was found dead on Thursday afternoon
An elderly woman whose death sparked a murder investigation has been named by police.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) said Jill Gant, aged 88, was found dead at an address on Appleford Drive in Abingdon, Oxfordshire at about 14:20 BST on Thursday afternoon.
Her family are being supported by specially trained officers.
A 36-year-old man from Abingdon who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
Police were called to reports of an unexplained death at Appleford Road, Abingdon, on Thursday
Det Ch Insp Stuart Brangwin said: "Our thoughts remain with Jill's family.
"We would ask, on their behalf, that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
Police previously said they did not believe there was "any threat to the wider public".
