Redesigned MacBook Pro will reportedly include these three changes
Apple has a fully redesigned MacBook Pro launching soon, its first new design since 2021. Here are three design changes reportedly coming.
One of the defining traits of the current MacBook Pro design is its display cutout: the notch.
The MacBook Pro introduced the notch to the Mac line in 2021, and the redesigned model that’s about to launch will reportedly remove it. Instead, the new MacBook Pro will have a small camera cutout and Dynamic Island built in. Per Mark Gurman:
The Dynamic Island on the Mac will be built around a hole-punch-sized cutout for the computer’s camera. It’s smaller than the pill-shaped notch in current iPhones.
It sounds like the notch replacement could be similar to iPhone Duo’s hole-punch camera on its outer display.
The current MacBook Pro is a hefty powerhouse, but Apple reportedly has a thinner, lighter design coming for the new MacBook Pro. Per Bloomberg earlier this week:
The new MacBook Pros are lighter — significantly lighter. Apple has reengineered the machine’s interior miniaturizing parts and rearranging components to make the computer much easier to carry.
It’s unknown whether slimming the MacBook Pro will result in any ports being removed. Apple’s current MacBook Pro design brought back many ports that had been removed in the prior iteration. It would be surprising for the company to strip ports yet again.
An Omdia report this summer said the redesigned MacBook Pro will come in two screen sizes:
If accurate, this is a very slight increase over the current 14.2- and 16.2-inch sizes. It’s possible Apple will reduce the bezels a bit to achieve a larger usable display area.
