Opera Air gets a minimalist makeover with a focus on distraction-free browsing
Opera is relaunching its Opera Air browser today with a redesign that is both conceptual and practical for a more focused browsing experience. Here’s what that means.
In early 2025, Opera announced Opera Air, which the company described as “the first web browser built around the concept of mindfulness.”
Since then, the company has been refining not just Opera Air but the entire family of browsers it offers, including Opera One and Neon.
Today, Opera is relaunching Opera Air with an update that builds on its minimalist design and overall experience, and “keeps distractions to a minimum to give people more room to focus on what matters.”
Air starts simple, with a clean interface and additional tools available when wanted. Messaging and social media apps can also be added to the sidebar.
The redesign also gives Air a new visual look. Refreshed wallpapers use open spaces, perspective, and natural textures, automatically adapting to Light and Dark themes.
Less on the surface doesn’t mean less underneath. Air comes with a built-in ad blocker for faster, less cluttered browsing and a free VPN for added privacy and protection online.
In keeping with the original idea for Opera Air, today’s update still includes Soundscapes, organized into four categories, that combine music and ambient sounds to help users focus or relax.
Ambience brings sounds such as Sea Waves and Spring Forest, while five new Soundscapes feature original music composed specifically for Opera Air. Among them is Hyperfocus, a more energetic track designed for settling into a task and staying there.
And speaking of focus, Opera Air also offers a set of features that help users take a break and regroup before resuming their browsing session.
