Pedestrian dies after being hit by several vehicles including police car
Officers remain at the scene as Dyfed-Powys Police carries out investigations into the six-vehicle crash and pedestrian's death
A pedestrian has died after being hit by multiple vehicles including a police car.
Dyfed-Powys Police were called regarding concerns for the safety of a person seen on the A40 between the PC World roundabout and Abergwili roundabout, in Carmarthen, on Tuesday.
As officers reached the scene at about 21:50 BST, reports indicated several vehicles had crashed with the pedestrian, including a marked police car when it arrived.
No arrests have been made and the force has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.
The force said inquiries to identify the pedestrian and next of kin were underway.
It added both carriageways of the road were likely to remain closed for a lengthy period of time while officers remained at the scene, and asked motorists to avoid the area.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Dyfed-Powys Police.
