Finally, smart blinds that actually match my home's decor - here's why they're worth it
ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. We've tested a wide range of smart home products this year, spanning from the highly specialized to uber-functional gadgets many of us couldn't live without ever again. Case in point: when I moved into my new home (on a busy corner in my neighborhood), smart blinds were among the first things on my mind.

When I looked at my options, however, it was clear that full-service blind companies would be out of my budget, and I was adamant about not installing traditional manual blinds. Not only do I loathe cleaning them, but manually opening and closing them in multiple main-floor windows on a daily basis was not feasible.
So I went out on a limb and tried SelectBlinds' smart blinds and shades, which come in both motorized and basic blinds and shades. Plus, blind options are customizable and made to order, with a "fit guarantee" that offers replacement custom blinds if your measurements are wrong upon delivery.
SelectBlinds combines elevated blinds and shades with smart motorization.
SelectBlinds offer a wide variety of options from different colors, patterns, materials, and styles, as well as components like lift type, roll position, headrails on select shades, and even no-drill options. I was impressed by the sheer number of choices available, including classic vinyl blackout roller shades with smart automation (what you need if you want your shades to sync in a room) for $121 per shade.
