Apple TV has beloved comedy returning soon, with Pluribus star added
Owen Wilson’s comedy Stick has a lot in common with Ted Lasso, and Apple just announced it’s returning soon for season 2—with Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn joining the cast.
Following Ted Lasso’s season 3 finale, no one knew if the show would ever return. Fortunately for Lasso fans it did, and season 4 is airing now.
But during its absence, Apple TV debuted a new show that very much shares Lasso’s DNA.
Owen Wilson’s Stick premiered last summer and immediately drew comparisons to Ted Lasso as another heartwarming sports comedy. And now, shortly after Lasso season 4 ends, Stick will return.
Stick season 2 debuts Wednesday, November 4 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through December 30.
“Stick” is a heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before. In season one, Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi (Dager).
The new season, per Apple’s press release, will see Santi pursue the next steps of entering professional golf, while Pryce makes his own return to the game.
Stick’s strong ensemble cast returns for season 2, with Wilson joined by Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer, and Timothy Olyphant.
Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn who join the cast as Pryce’s new golf coach. Other additions include John Higgins, Billy Zane, Rex Linn, Sasha Alexander, and Missi Pyle.
